LIFEGUARDS IRELAND
are established to provide a full range of beach,
pool and open water qualifications and awards aimed at the Leisure
Industry, Local Authorities and Co. Councils, Surf Clubs, Outdoor Activity
Centres, Private Groups or Individuals.
We administer and act as a facilitator to those Outdoor Centres, Local
Authorities and Surf Clubs wishing to register as training units for
Beach Lifeguards.
LIFEGUARDS IRELAND work in close cooperation with
IQL IRELAND who act to
promote the development of RLSS National Lifeguard
Qualifications, and to encourage the widespread adoption of water safety
education, resuscitation skills and out-of-hospital defibrillation.

First Aid courses are provided by our
associate company - First Aid @ Work Training Service. All our Trainers and Examiners are certified and
registered with the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC) as
Cardiac First Responders. (Upskill 2008)
Safety, Health and Welfare at
Work Act 2005
The effect of the newly updated Safety, Health and
Welfare at Work Act 2005 (Dail Eireann) is to require a beach or a pool operator
(manager, owner/s, directors) to ensure
that lifeguards are sufficient in number, adequately trained, and effectively
organised on the beaches and in the pools under their control and for which they
are responsible.

What YOU should know about your
QUALIFICATIONS ?
The National Beach Lifeguard Qualification
(NBLQ)
and the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
are the OFFICIAL Lifeguard Qualifications
recognised by RLSS and by the 'family' of
RLSS throughout the World.
The NPLQ is the accepted International Industry
standard bearer in many countries for Pool Lifeguarding around the World.
Both Qualifications are endorsed and recognised by
International Life Saving.

INSTITUTE OF QUALIFIED
LIFEGUARDS
The
National Beach
Lifeguard Qualification
and the
National Pool
Lifeguard Qualification are awarded by the
Institute of Qualified Lifeguards (IQL), and are nationally and
internationally recognised as the essential standards of competence. Each
acts as a passport to employment with
swimming pool managers, local authorities, outdoor centres and
holiday companies both here in Ireland and throughout the world.
The Institute of
Qualified Lifeguards which administers around 30,000 lifeguarding qualifications each year world-wide was formed in 1992 and is the
awarding body responsible for maintaining and developing the highest standards
in lifeguarding. All courses are independently and externally assessed and

OTHER SERVICES
We provide other services including
pool and beach risk assessments and safety management strategies, advice and
recommendations in the development of a Normal Operating Plan (NOP) and a
Emergency Action Plan (EAP). Inspection of Beach Lifeguard Stations with
results, reports and recommendations.
The
National Beach Lifeguard Qualification is also accepted by theIrish
Surfing Association as asafety qualification requisite for a Level 1 Surf
